Red Bee Media Launches Down Under

Red Bee Media has announced the launch of Red Bee Media Australia.
This will include, subject to finalisation of contracts, opening a state-of-the-art Broadcast Centre in Australia in 2008, which will bring together all of Red Bee Media’s existing Sydney operations into a new multi-client facility. The facility will use similar media management and playout technology to Red Bee Media's existing world class facility in London, UK.
The technology supports the media workflow principle of ingesting content once and using it many times to enable broadcasters, content owners and platform providers efficient delivery of media to multiple-platforms, whether it be traditional TV services, broadband or mobile.
Red Bee Media has been appointed, subject to finalisation of contracts, by the SBS Corporation (SBS) to provide outsourced playout and digital media management services. SBS is the first of the main broadcasters in Australia to outsource these types of services.
Red Bee Media Australia will bring together the services of its subsidiary the Australian Caption Centre (ACC), which is one of the largest subtitling companies in the world. The ACC provides access services for major Australian television broadcasters, major advertisers and their agencies, video and DVD distributors, subscription television channels and conferences in Australia and overseas.
Mick Morris has been appointed Managing Director of Red Bee Media Australia. Mick spent over 27 years with the Nine Network and held various senior management positions including Director of Production, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer. More recently, Mick assisted Red Bee Media with its acquisition of the Australian Caption Centre.
Pam Masters, CEO, Red Bee Media, said: "I am very excited to announce the launch of Red Bee Media Australia and the proposed new Broadcast Centre in Sydney which will bring together our services and expertise in the market. I am delighted that Red Bee Media has been selected as preferred supplier by SBS. The media landscape is changing rapidly with consumers facing an increased choice of channels and multiple devices to engage with content. Broadcasters, content owners and platform owners need to innovate and change the way they connect with audiences, and our services enable them to do this in a cost effective way. I am also delighted Mick Morris joins us and I look forward to helping him build our new Australian business."
