WFCJ-FM Adds HD-1 Channel With Jampro Space-Combining Antenna

WFCJ-FM, a 50.0 kW Christian broadcaster serving the greater Dayton market, has announced that it has successfully powered up and tested its new HD-1 channel using a Jampro space-combining JLST model two-bay antenna in concert with its main six bay dipole antenna.
John Graham, Chief Engineer commented: "We looked at all the different methods of going HD and they were all expensive. Fortunately, we had an unused 7/8 inch transmission line on the tower. Jampro provided the JLST's designed for mounting on a 15-foot pole, which they also supplied and we bolted the assembly to the tower in a few hours. We estimate we saved about $20,000.00 over the high combining transmitter alternatives we considered."
Prior to shipping to WFCJ, Jampro tested the JLST antenna configuration on a similar tower at its Sacramento, California full-scale, far field test range and provided install diagrams, and test documentation to Graham. The Jampro antennas were installed at 460 feet, 25 feet below the existing six-bay. Graham's JLST test revealed an excellent VSWR.
WFCJ-FM (93.7) is a not-for-profit station owned by Miami Valley Christian Broadcasting with a religious talk and music format. In the near future, the station plans multicasting with the addition of an all music HD-2 channel.
The JLST is a circularly polarized, low power FM antenna designed specifically for omni-directional translator/booster applications and rated at 500-Watts maximum input. It is made of stainless steel and hot-dipped galvanized steel and a stacking harness can be used to add multiple bays to achieve the required gain.
Jampro Antennas / RF Systems established to answer the need for quality broadcast systems at a reasonable price, is a leading supplier of antennas, combiners & filters and RF components for every application in the broadcast industry.
