Imagine Communications appoints cable leader Jamie Howard

Broadband industry leader Jamie Howard has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Imagine Communications, developer of the industry's most powerful and scalable PersonalisedTV platform.
Imagine's breakthrough third generation statistical multiplexing technology and software-based infrastructure solutions enable tremendous bandwidth improvements, enhanced video quality and customised service offerings such as targeted ads, personalised audio and more.
Speaking of his new appointment Howard said: "We're at the early stages of an exiting shift away from legacy scheduled broadcast TV toward an unprecedented consumer-controlled content experience."
Imagine's Chairman and Partner at Carmel Ventures said: "We are very pleased to see Jamie join Imagine Communications, he has one of the most impressive track records in the cable and broadband industries and has proven his ability to lead start-up and brand-name companies toward tremendous growth and success."
"This personalised, on demand type of viewing presents operators with rich new revenue streams and profit opportunities but stresses bandwidth resources and video quality. Imagine's core technology platform meets these challenges while giveing operators greater control and flexibility over their network assets."
Imagine's initial PersonalizedTV platform, the Quality On Demand Gateway (QOD Gateway), was launched in June 2006. The QOD Gateway incorporates Imagine's breakthrough core technology and ushers in a totally different, revolutionary way of using standardised tools in the area of video coding and multiplexing to ensure the best video quality at the lowest bit rate. It incorporates a novel, third-generation method of video processing and statistical multiplexing for standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) VOD.
Founded in 2005, Imagine Communications is privately held and funded by Carmel Ventures and Columbia Capital.
