Solid State Logic shows its latest C Series developments at IBC

Solid State Logic, the world's leading manufacturer of professional digital and analogue consoles, will be showing the latest versions of its C100 and C300 digital production consoles at this year's IBC Convention in Amsterdam.
The highly successful C100 digital broadcast console will be displayed with the new MORSE (Modular Resource Sharing Engine) feature, which brings the added benefit of resource sharing capabilities to the desk.
Launched at NAB in April and on show for the first time in Europe at IBC, MORSE is a modular resource-sharing engine designed specifically for zero down time broadcast applications. It enables any studio floor to be routed to any control room, allowing broadcasters to "mix and match" their source rooms to their available consoles.
The MORSE system is comprised of modular i/o, stageboxes and router hardware, allowing extremely dense concentration of audio I/O and router matrices for simple to large-scale applications. The router and stagebox hardware have low power consumption, convection cooling, proprietary technology using flash memory, thus removing the common causes of failure and offering the silent operation that allows studio floor positioning.
Optional PC control software can be used to create password-protected user accounts in order to control ownership of assets, ensuring smooth workflow and trouble-free operation.
"With the proliferation of channels in digital broadcast, the demands placed on broadcast infrastructure are greater than ever before," says SSL's Director of Product Marketing, Niall Feldman. "The contemporary broadcast environment demands efficient, maximised use of all studio assets. MORSE meets this demand by offering multi-studio broadcasters a high level of flexibility and scheduling of their resources via an extremely robust, fast, dedicated system. Together with our C100 consoles, MORSE provides extremely cost-effective and scalable audio I/O with the redundancy and fault-proof operation required for fast-paced broadcast facilities."
SSL will also be showing its new IFB Master Channel section for the C100, which delivers simple, fast, direct access to multiple comms busses for intuitive handling of complex IFB requirements. It is compatible with existing C100 consoles, and can be used in combination with the original Master Channel section.
In addition to the C100 innovations, SSL will be displaying its recently launched C300 Master Studio System. This is a compact, assignable console, for fast and efficient sweetening and mix creation that addresses the requirements of non-linear film and TV production by delivering the ultimate in cost-effective, scalable operational efficiency.
"Working closely with broadcast facilities as part of the development of our C-Series family of consoles, we were increasingly made aware that desktop systems don't solve all of the audio challenges for commercial post production," Niall Feldman added. "Workstation processing is not the complete solution for efficient workflow because it is missing such elements as tactile, physical controls, powerful automation and better audio performance. SSL's new C300 console is specifically designed to address these issues with a single system that has integrated workstation control, renowned automation and acclaimed signal processing quality."
The C300 Master Studio System integrates DAW control using techniques successfully pioneered with the AWS 900 console. This brings the workstation into the console allowing unparalleled interaction between console and DAW. Automation developed from the C200 console provides complete real and non-real time control over the console's powerful signal processing.
This allows operators to slow down fast moves to a more manageable pace, or even set-up whole scenes with the press of a locate key. This saves massive amounts of time and yet also delivers the subtle control required to satisfy the most demanding producers or directors. The C300 completes a family of digital production consoles with its sister C100 and C200 models. This family of products encompass a wide range of audio broadcast production solutions, e.g. on-air, live-to-tape and post production. All of these products scale to handle the largest productions and can be configured to fit tight budgets.
