Dayang hosts 2nd annual Thai broadcast seminar

Dayang's second annual Thai broadcast seminar, 'Broadcasting to the Future', was hosted at the Spring Field Country Club in Cha-Am, a coastal resort near Thailand's capital city.
Held from July 14-16, the event was organised in co-operation with Omneon, PESA and Snell & Wilcox. Over 80 delegates from major Thai broadcast stations, cable channels and independent production facilities attended.
Speakers at the event included Luo XiaoXiao (Dayang Product Manager, System Integration) who described the company's range of HD and SD production, postproduction, interface and server equipment. Darren Fordham (Product Manager, PESA), Jonathan Mortimer (Sales Director - APAC, Snell & Wilcox) and Eric Masters (VP, APAC Sales, Omneon Video Networks) outlined recent technical advances from their respective companies. Sebastian Ang (Dayang South East Asia Regional Sales Manager) then presented an overview explaining the benefits the four manufacturers are able to provide in the design, delivery and commissioning of efficient systems for a wide variety of SD, HD and multidefinition broadcast applications.
"The seminar provided a very useful opportunity for an exchange of ideas and experiences with existing and potential customers in the presence of our major partner companies," comments Dayang International CEO Karlton Burn. "We were also able to talk through recent case studies showing, in particular, how SD broadcasters can progress into multi-resolution and HD operation given the rise of consumer interest in 720p and 1080i widescreen and in IPTV. PESA demonstrated their routing and distribution skills, Snell & Wilcox demonstrated their transcoders and Omneon explained the advantages of their networked server systems. The event was an agreeable mix of serious discussion and relaxation which made it doubly useful from a personal networking viewpoint."
Dayang's first Thai Broadcast Seminar was held at St Andrew's 2000 Country Club, Pattaya, Thailand, in October 2005. Plans are already in progress for a 2007 event next summer.
