PARTNERSHIP SIGNALS SCOTTISH FILM BOOST

SCOTTISH company Makar Productions have announced a new partnership with London based Parallax Pictures.
Parallax, already one of the most prolific filmmakers in Scotland, will now use Makar’s Edinburgh office as a base for its future Scottish film productions, while Makar will gain the benefit of Parallax’s extensive network of international distributors and sales agents, important for this relatively new company.
Eddie Dick, the man behind Makar, previously ran the Scottish Film Production Fund, placing him firmly at the centre of the growing Scottish Film Industry. His relationship with Parallax began when the companies cooperated in the making of ‘Child of Air’, a £2.6m project funded by the national lottery. During this time he formed strong personal relationships with people at Parallax, helping to create the ties that now signal a new stage in Makar’s development, and reaffirms the growth of the Scottish Industry.
Parallax emphasises that it is committed to film making in Scotland and to the promotion of young writers, directors and producers. Recently placed as the fifth most significant player in the Scottish Film Industry, Parallax say that the new partnership with Makar Productions is a natural extension of their consistent work in Scotland, and that working together promises to be mutually beneficial.
