REPLAY TV GETS MOVIE DEAL

INTERACTIVE-television company Replay TV, has announced a deal with Universal Pictures to promote the studio’s new movie releases through Replay’s service.
Broadcasters and advertisers so far haven’t embraced interactive-TV technology, which allows people to watch, record and playback programs at their leisure.
The deal, however, could be an indication that advertisers are finally getting interested in the interactive-TV concept, though the technology behind it is still in progress.
Replay and its closest competitor, TiVo, currently have a combined customer base of around 100,000, although the market for their services is still expanding.
Meanwhile, AOL has announced plans to get in on the interactive-TV action through its new AOLTV service, and Microsoft (MSFT) is working to add an interactive-TV to its production line.
