Seven Stones & Cornwall Film launch 'PILOTS' scheme

Regional indie Seven Stones Media has teamed up with Cornwall Film to launch PILOTS, the first scheme of its kind launched in the UK.
The scheme will help develop taster tapes for factual programming with Cornish film-makers.
The aim of PILOTS is to help more local production companies and freelancers in Cornwall develop great TV documentary ideas, and to provide them with access to commissioning editors through the knowledge and expertise of the team at Seven Stones Media. The scheme aims to take on around six projects throughout the year, and assist in the development of taster-tapes for factual programming.
Pippa Best, Project Director at Cornwall Film, said: "The first step to being commissioned is a real issue for many local producers and directors. We're really thrilled to be working with Seven Stones Media. The company brings wide-ranging experience in TV production, strong links with commissioners, which will really help to develop new talent and Cornwall's media industry.”
Peter Edwards, Managing Director, Seven Stones, added: “There’s some great talent in the county, albeit it in a fragmented way. We hope the PILOTS scheme will draw together some of the production community in Cornwall help create the critical mass the county needs to develop to allow it to effectively compete in the programme supply market.”
Recent series such as 'Seaside Rescue' and 'A Seaside Parish', along with Rick Stein's many cookery programmes, are among some of Cornwall’s most successful past exports.
