Dalet annouces Dalet OpenMedia Plugin Suite

Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of media management tools for more than a decade, has showcased at NAB 2006 the new Dalet OpenMedia Plugin Suite, Dalet OpenMedia Ingest, Dalet OpenMedia Logger and Dalet OpenMedia OnAir.
Dalet OpenMedia is used by over 10,000 journalists and newsroom staff for newsroom computing. The new plugin suite provides OpenMedia users with ingest and playout capabilities within their OpenMedia system.
“Dalet OpenMedia Plugin Suite is designed to not only extend the capabilities of the OpenMedia solution, but to ensure that our OpenMedia users are able to take advantage of the latest innovations from Dalet,” comments Michael Schueller, General Manager, Dalet Germany. “This approach enables our OpenMedia customers to keep current with the latest technical advancements and recognize a tremendous return on their OpenMedia investment.”
The Dalet OpenMedia Ingest plugin will allow for place holder creation and line bookings from OpenMedia into the video server. When source material is recorded using the Dalet OpenMedia Ingest module, a frame accurate, low-resolution (low-res) copy is automatically created, enabling journalists to quickly retrieve source material over a network. Information about the media stored on the central server, including metadata, is synchronized and sent to Dalet OpenMedia via MOS protocol. Dalet OpenMedia users can easily search, access, and modify the content directly from their OpenMedia system.
Through Dalet OpenMedia Logger, Open Media users will have simultaneous access to the same source materials. Other logging features include: user definable markers, text annotations and key word entry with time stamps. Text annotations are immediately saved and available for searching. OpenMedia users can also save clips as a new file or export as an EDL.
The DaletPlus OnAir Plugin module offers a reliable, open-standard approach for automated and live-assist playout of video, text and captions. Dalet OpenMedia OnAir plugs into to the main OpenMedia system via MOS protocol. The integration enables Dalet OpenMedia users to send rundown instructions as well as retrieve status information about the broadcast for the eRegie. Dalet OpenMedia OnAir automatically loads the player and communicates to the video server the playout sequence. Dalet OpenMedia OnAir can be integrated with a wide variety of studio devices including video servers, VTRs, teleprompters, character generators, still stores, and more. (CD/CL)
