VINTEN AND INTERSENSE MOVE VIRTUAL REALITY

VINTEN, providers of camera supports, and InterSense, developers in precision motion tracking technology, have formed a partnership to create innovative solutions in the form of the next generation ‘smart’ pedestals and camera supports with motion tracking technology built inside.
Motion tracking technology is a critical enabler in the use of virtual sets and complex 3D graphics. The use of virtual environments saves producers money in set construction and provides limitless opportunity for creativity.
President and CEO of Entertainment Design Workshop Douglas Trumbull said: “Digital technology continues to revolutionise the way television and movies are created. The advent of high speed image processors, high resolution real-time virtual sets and precision camera tracking technology is enabling studios to create high quality content faster and at a lower cost.”
The Vinten-InterSense alliance will take virtual reality production to the next level by delivering precise and accurate wide-area, interface-free, camera, tool and talent-tracking for the most demanding applications.
In addition, it will provide all position and orientation information of both real and virtual elements to the production in a unified, real-world co-ordinate system.
