ITC REJECT PROGRAMME COMPLAINTS

THE INDEPENDENT Television Commission (ITC) have rejected complaints about Keith Chegwin’s nude appearance in Channel 5’s programme ‘The Naked Jungle’.
The ITC said that the programme code had not been broken as the show was transmitted after the 21:00 watershed and viewers were given clear warnings about the content.
Complaints were also against ITV for broadcasting early morning editions of the ‘Jerry Springer Show’ during school holidays. The programmes went out at 09:25 and a total of 69 viewers complained about six editions of the show featuring aggressive guests or sexual discussions. The ITC also upheld further complaints against ITV for an on-air description of the drama ‘Cor Blimey’, inspired by the relationship between Barbara Windsor and the late Sid James.
James’s wife and family had objected to the making of the show but were told by ITV chiefs that it would be stressed that the programme was a ‘drama’, not a documentary.
However, just before the show was screened it was described as ‘the amazing but true story of life with the Carry Ons’.
