DIGITAL TV IS OPEN FOR SECURE TRANSACTIONS

IRISH security company Baltimore Technologies have unveiled their wireless authentication strategy for digital television at the annual convention in Florida.
The Open Interactive system will allow secure transactions between digital set-top boxes and content providers, such as an advertiser or broadcaster.
The system uses advanced 'Bluetooth' technology to connect remotely via a secure communication protocol with the set-top box.
CEO of Baltimore Technologies Fran Rooney said: “Transactions, such as banking and e-commerce will increasingly take place over mobile devices. Interactive TV will be the next application for homes, but end users need assurance that it is secure before it will take off.”
Rooney believes the company’s security measures are a necessary addition to the range of interactive TV technology and one that will prompt growth.
