Landmark returns to ITV with ‘Scared To Death: Phobia Britain’

Oxford based indie, Landmark films, returns to ITV1 this year with a new commission.
Titled ‘Phobia Britain’, the programme is a 1x60 observational documentary to be broadcast during ITV1’s ‘Scared to Death’ season of programming.
Scared to Death: Phobia Britain delves deep into the bizarre psyche of the phobic, exploring some of the UK’s most unusual and irrational fears. As well as providing the viewer with a sympathetic snapshot of what life as a sufferer is like, a selection of the contributors will undertake the rigours of therapy in an attempt to cure them of their anxieties. Though the success rate for therapies of this kind are high, those involved will be forced to face their worst nightmares, in the shape of teabags, knees and even decorative bunting with no guarantee of a cure.
Commenting on the announcement, Nick O’Dwyer, Exec Producer and Managing Director of Landmark, said: “We are delighted that Landmark has been commissioned to produce Phobia Britain as part of the new strand of documentary programming on ITV. This follows the success of ‘The Unlikeliest Couples in Britain’ and ‘The Laziest Men in Britain’, part of our “…In Britain” strand shown on the channel previously. It’s also further proof that ITV is committed to providing thoughtful and insightful documentaries which Landmark has become renowned for.”
Alison Sharman, Director of Factual and Daytime, added: “Most people have an irrational fear of something, so Phobia Britain promises to be a fascinating component in our Scared to Death season of programmes exploring the theme of fear.”
