SADiE DEMONSTRATE AES31 FORMAT AT AES

SADiE UK, manufacturers of professional digital and audio equipment, have participated in the first public demonstration of AES31 at the recent AES Exhibition in Los Angeles.
As one of the instigators of AES31, SADiE Managing Director Joe Bull took a leading role in the presentation by proving the viability of file exchange between a SADiE workstation and other manufacturers' equipment. In the demonstration, a sample of voice material was recorded onto a Zaxcom Deva portable recorder, and then transferred to SADiE where it was edited before being extensively replayed on a DAR OMR8 dubber/workstation. The demonstration then concluded with the bi-directional interchange of material and edit lists between SADiE and DAR.

We have always promoted interchange between SADiE and other workstation manufacturers and already support the broadest range of disk, file and EDL formats. SADiE recently announced a development agreement with Brooks Harris to implement the AES31 universal digital audio interchange format for the range of SADiE workstations.
AES31 are the proposed standards for networks and file transfers of digital audio. Several digital audio workstation manufacturers are now in the process of implementing AES31-3
The AES31-3 format defines audio edits such as cross fades and as with traditional edit decision list (EDL) the format is text based.
