Impact Image delivers four security training films for FCO

Surrey-based Impact Image, a leading independent production company, was commissioned to produce four security training films for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
Aimed primarily at new staff joining the FCO the films highlight the need for risk awareness and good practice whilst working at home and overseas.
The brief called for each film to cover a wide number of different scenarios and be used within a formal, captive training environment. Whilst being effective training communications the films had also to be thought provoking and stimulate classroom discussion.
“We decided to take a stylised approach to the project rather than try to literally represent real events which would have been very complex and costly to shoot. The scenarios were portrayed by actors in real life environments but very little dialogue was used. Instead voice over and live action were the only platforms used for communicating the key messages. The result, we believe, is a suite of four films that deliver key information simply and clearly yet within a creative structure which is exciting and engaging,” explained Bob Hayes, Production Director of Impact Image.
The suite of films include:
  • “Personal Safety” covers personal safety issues that are applicable in London and in other capital cities around the world.
  • “Driver Safety” highlights and reinforces the need for good basic driving skills, awareness on the road and planning.
  • “IT Security” explains basic IT Security operating procedures and the damage that can be done to national security and the reputation of the FCO if procedures are not adhered to.
  • “Personnel Security” illustrates the consequences to staff security clearances of letting personal difficulties or habits spiral out of control.
Paul Flandinette, Managing Director of Impact Image added: “We were very proud to have won this contract amidst stiff opposition in open tender for a client as prestigious as the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. It’s gratifying to know that we were selected on the creative quality of our proposal and not just on price. An additional key benefit of our proposal that the FCO found attractive was our ability to add value throughout the project thanks to our highly experienced creative team and extensive in-house production facilities.”
A spokesperson for the Security Management Directorate at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, said: “Over the last five months, I have been working with Impact Image, specifically Paul Flandinette, Robert Hayes and Grant Eustace, to produce four security training films for my directorate within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The films were produced to a high standard, on budget and exactly to the brief provided. The finished product is everything we could have wished for when starting off the production.”
