TODD-AO POST ‘NEVER NEVER’ FOR COMPANY PICTURES

TODD-AO's post facilities and film laboratory were used during the post-production of the Channel 4's drama ‘Never Never' produced by Company Pictures.
Todd-AO processed nearly 95,000 feet of Super 16mm film shot during a six-week schedule in August. Todd-AO’s Senior Colourist, Kevin Horsewood, said: “A lot of available natural light was used while filming, giving the pictures a very hard and strong look. This was further highlighted by grading the film with a desaturated high contrast effect, a look similar to using a bleach by-pass treatment during processing.”
The hand-held camera scenes added to the rough and tense atmosphere of the programme. Horsewood also enhanced the grainy look of the film to maintain the gritty feel and compliment the dark and desperate ambience of the subject matter portrayed in the programme.
Editor, Chris Gill, cut the series with Todd-AO’s Senior Editor, Michael Williams, completing the conform and on-line within a timescale.
‘Never Never’ is a modern day love story which develops into a tough account of how the poor and financially excluded can stand up to loan-sharks and money lenders who prowl the poorest areas in the country.
The two-part series was written by Tony Marchant and will be aired on November 5 and 6.
