New switchers from Vortex

The VX8500-II series of matrix switchers now includes two brand new models offering low-cost routing of high definition analogue and SDI digital video with or without audio.
All VX-8500-II switchers have 16-inputs and 16-outputs and are housed in 2-U or 3-U mains-powered enclosures with front panel and RS-232 / RS-422 serial control. The optional IP Ethernet interface additionally allows control over computer networks.
The VX-8500-II/D switches SDI Serial Digital Video with AES/EBU or SP-DIF digital audio and has built in reclocking and equalization, necessary for sending SDI video over long cable runs.
The VX8500-II/YUV switches high definition component video with either balanced or unbalanced stereo audio and can be linked to the SDI version for mixed format switching.
The optional audio control module provides input level trim, output volume, bass, treble, loudness and balance adjustment for each input and output which can all be adjusted via the front panel or remotely via the serial control port or using IP. This flexibility allows routing of audio signals directly to power amplifiers thus greatly simplifying and reducing the cost of installations. The control protocols have been designed for straightforward integration into automation systems using a simple set of ASCII strings to select crosspoints and adjust audio parameters.
