Welsh Student Festival of Moving Image announces line up

Ffresh - The Student Moving Image Festival of Wales - will take place in the picturesque west coast seaside town of Aberystwyth on the 16 and 17 of February.
With students from 11 universities and higher education establishments competing in nine categories of excellence, the fourth Ffresh Festival will celebrate new talent in all aspects of the moving image to reflect the courses currently taught in Welsh institutions.
Alongside the daily award ceremonies, the annual two-day Festival, which attracts 500 students, lecturers, industry practitioners and the general public, hosts a series of master-classes, screenings, information sessions and workshops.
This year's highlights include opportunities for those attending to hear from:
  • Mike Leigh, Director of 'Vera Drake', 'Topsy Turvy', 'Secrets and Lies'
  • Andrew Davies, Screenwriter of 'Bleak House', 'Bridget Jones' Diary', 'Pride and Prejudice' - currently adapting 'Fanny Hill'
  • Steve Robinson, BAFTA-winning Producer of 'Tribe', 'Ellen McArthur: The Search for Speed'
  • Jim Clark, Editor of 'Vera Drake', 'The World is not enough, Marathon Man'
  • The Mill, Oscar-winning visual effects company, who have recently completed the 'Ultimate Predator Audi Quattro' commercial and the 'Honda Impossible Dream' commercial.
  • Also a preview screening of Tsotsi, Audience Award winner at Edinburgh International Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and Los Angeles Film Festival and the Michael Powell Best Film Award at Edinburgh. Nominated for a Golden Globe Award - Best Foreign Language Film.
The Festival is open to the public, who are able to register on the day to attend at a cost of £5 for a day or both days for £10.
There are also fringe events starting on the 13 of February at the Commodore Cinema and the Drwm at the National Library of Wales.
