University of Lincoln chooses ON-AIR systems ‘K’ Series broadcast automation solutions

ON-AIR Systems, international developer of modular broadcast automation solutions, has announced that the University of Lincoln has purchased a single-channel television playout system from the new ON-AIR ‘K’ Series of broadcast automation solutions.
The University will install the equipment in its new purpose-built Media Centre when it is completed in March 2006. In the meantime, it will be used in the University’s television studios.
The system will comprise ON-AIR playKast, a multi-format playout server with feature-sets for live news production control, scheduling, graphics generation, media management, playout redundancy, logging and archiving. ON-AIR playKast will be networked with ON-AIR Kapture, a software module for automated programme capture.
“We chose the ON-AIR ‘K’ series for several reasons,” said Geoff Thompson, media production centre manager, University of Lincoln. “ON-AIR Systems has a solid reputation for quality, their software is easy to use, IP managed and fully scalable. Also, because it uses open architecture, it will integrate easily with our existing equipment, providing a very streamlined workflow.”
The University of Lincoln already produces a range of educational programmes using its own on-site production facilities. These programmes will be captured as media files direct from Pinnacle and Avid editing systems using ON-AIR Kapture.
As well as being used to train students in higher education on broadcast techniques and digital workflows, the University is also looking at a number of business options for the new ON-AIR ‘K’ Series broadcast automation solutions.
Installation, systems integration and support will be provided by Quadrant Visual Solutions.
