FOYLE FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS ANNOUNCED

THE Light In Motion (LIM) Awards were announced at the 13th Budweiser Foyle Film Festival, which recently closed it doors after another successful run.
Sarah Gavron was awarded the ‘Best International Short’ for the short film, ‘Losing Touch’, and the ‘Best Irish Short’ award went to Ian Power for ‘Buskers’. The ‘Best Animation’ Award was given to Billy O’Brien for his humorous film, ‘The Tale of the Rat that Wrote’, and the award for ‘Best Feature’ went to Khaled El Hager, ‘Room To Rent’.
All of the winners received a specially designed Tyrone Crystal sculptured award, a certificate and cash prize.
With 150 films to choose from and a host of industry guests and workshops on offer at the festival, organisers say that this year’s audience attendance at all of the events was higher than ever before.
Aspiring filmmakers who would like to have the chance of winning one of the awards for next year’s competitions must have their entries in by August 2001.
