CTV OB ROCKS WITH ROBBIE

CTV have released details of a busy pre Christmas schedule which is set to continue up to the new year.
The company recently provided OB facilities for a Robbie Williams concert in Manchester. Directed by Hamish Hamilton and produced by Done and Dusted, the concert utilised CTV’s largest unit, the triple expanding OB2. The production also used of an RF controlled airship. The three-metre airship supplied by ACS featured a three-chip minicam mounted on a remote pan and tilt head slung under its helium canopy.
CTV’s Unit Manager, Bill Morris, said: “The results were quite spectacular. At first we were unsure how the logistics of launching and landing a fully operational airship within the indoor Manchester Evening News arena would work, but the Venue and Robbie Williams tour management were very accommodating. The shots obtained were quite unique and the reaction of the audience to the ship emblazed with its giant Robbie logo were priceless.”
Then the CTV crew flew to Hanover to shoot the Britney Spears concert for the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas. Using a NTSC VTR Flypack facility the crew shot interviews with Britney and recorded her performance of ‘Stronger’.
Coming up CTV will be providing OB services for ‘The Who’ concert in the Royal Albert Hall, and rounding off the year the Royal institution will be invaded by ‘The Rise of the Robots’, this year’s title for the annual Christmas lectures produced for Channel 4 by Windfall Productions
