Kodak orders two Leader SD/HD test instruments

Kodak has ordered two Leader SD/HD high-quality test instruments for its newly-opened telecine suite at Boyana Film Studios in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia.
The test equipment was purchased via Leader reseller Thameside TV. The units chosen are a Leader LT443D multiformat SPG and signal generator and the LV5700A waveform monitor with multidisplay. Both instruments are compatible with all current HD-SDI and SD-SDI signal formats.
Ian Magowan, Kodak Entertainment Imaging Operations Manager comments: "The Leader instruments were selected on the basis of their digital repeatability, clarity of display and very flexible format compatibility. The LT443D and LV5700A will enable high quality SD/HD monitoring and maintenance of our Grass Valley 2K Spirit telecine and Pogle Pixi MegaDef colour correction system."
Leader's LT443D is a modular video signal generator and SPG currently supporting 14 HDTV signal formats. The generator's firmware can be updated via plug-in Compact Flash memory as new video standards emerge. The LT443D is fully Ethernet compatible, enabling remote operation and genlock status monitoring. Based on a 1 U mainframe housing the power supply, controller and a 20 character dual-line backlit LCD, the generator accommodates up to four plug-in modules. These can be individually assigned to provide simultaneous HD outputs at 74.25 and 74.25/1.001 MHz respectively. The LT443D purchased by Kodak includes an HD-SDI module, SD-SDI module, genlock module, analogue video module and natural picture option.
The Leader LV5700A's video waveform monitor includes delta and bar-graph displays enabling operators to spot chroma gamut errors at a glance and identify the source colours. Sampling rate can be switched automatically between 74.25 and 74.25/1.001 MHz in HD mode or to 13.5 MHz SD. The LV5700A is also equipped with analogue NTSC/PAL composite and 525/625 component I/O. Dual composite inputs and a switched output are provided. When operated in component mode, the LV5700A can display Y/Pb/Pr levels a RGB.
Analogue monitoring functions include picture, waveform and vector displays.
