E4 SIGN CARRIAGE DEAL WITH TELEWEST

E4, CHANNEL 4’s entertainment channel, and Telewest, broadband media and telecom operators, have signed a distribution agreement that will see E4 carried on Telewest.
Managing Director of Pay & Digital TV, Gerry Stable, said: “Our aim is to bring E4 to as many viewers as possible and distribution on Telewest takes us further towards this goal. E4 will broadcast new episodes of established shows and a range of brand new commissions targeting an upmarket and younger audience that we believe is currently underserved.”
E4 will launch on January 18 and will be available as part of Telewest’s digital and analogue packages.
Commenting on the distribution agreement, David Hobday, Telewest’s Commercial Director for TV, said: “Telewest are striving to give every customer an exciting viewing experience at unbeatable value. E4 continues to enhance this by offering our customers our customers an even greater choice of programmes. E4 is what multi-channel TV is all about.”
The 12-hour daily schedule, 4pm to 4am, will show British programming with new series and programmes specially commissioned for the channel.
Included in the line-up will be American comedy and drama, with UK first runs of new series including ‘Friends’, ‘ER’, ‘Ally McBeal’ and ‘The Sopranos’.
