root6 supplies Sony XPRI HD finishing suites to top UK factual production company

At IBC, root6 have announced that Parthenon Entertainment, a leading UK producer of factual programming, has upgraded its in-house facilities, spending £250,000 on High Definition production.
Two new suites based on Sony’s XPRI HD finishing system have been added, together with an Avid Xpress Studio HD suite, all connected to a large TerraBlock Storage Area Network. The equipment was supplied and installed in the Chorleywood facility by resellers root6.
Established in 2002, Parthenon Entertainment has produced more than 500 hours of documentary material in its key genres of nature, science, history and people. Currently the company has almost 70 hours of HD programming in production.
“HD is obviously the way forward,” said Parthenon Entertainment Managing Director Carl Hall, “but to ensure quality we felt it was important to keep material in its native HD format. XPRI enables us to do just that.
"root6 also supplied 6TB of storage – that may seem excessive but when you consider a one-hour wildlife programme may have 90 hours of material for editing, you soon come to appreciate it."
The first project for XPRI at Parthenon is “Hollywood Fox” an HD production for National Geographic and NDR.
The one-hour wildlife documentary charts the ongoing struggle between the San Joaquin Kit Fox and Californian real estate developers.
