SCOTTISH MALTS WITH JVC BLEND

A NEW Mercedes-Benz OB vehicle, fully equipped with JVC D-9 recording equipment, has entered service with the Media and Learning Technology Service (MALTS) at the University of Edinburgh.
MALTS have invested over £100,000 on JVC D-9 kit in a significant step from analogue to digital recording. The company finally selected D-9 after an extensive format comparison trials.
MALTS Resources Manager Jim Sheach said: “We chose D-9 purely on technical merit. There was no question of budgetary concerns during the evaluation. We felt we could work well with JVC and the staff here enjoyed using the equipment over the initial trial period. The picture quality was simply excellent.”
The kit was supplied by JVC’s partnering dealer, Cameron Communications in Glasgow and includes two DY-90W switchable widescreen camcorders, five BR-D85E edit recorders, a pair of BR-D350E edit players, a GY-DV500 Professional DV camcorder and a BR-DV600E Professional DV recorder/player.
The D-9 edit recorders were required to equip both the OB unit and their existing edit suites, while the D-9 camcorders provide both single and twin-camera acquisition remotely from the Mercedes.
The Professional DV camcorder will be used in situations where the larger D-9 equipment would be inappropriate.
