Mactv dramatisation of 'Anna Bheag' to screen

A drama project written, filmed and produced in the Western Isles will be shown on Scottish and Grampian Television on Sunday 22nd December at 5.10pm.
'Anna Bheag' was written by Finlay Macleod, and is the story of an incident in a young girl's life, an event which throws up tensions and life-long personal suffering in the lives of the adults around her, as well as communal fissures involving the police, incomers and belief.
The drama stars Kathleen Macinnes, Beathag Mhoireasdan, David Walker and Erica Morrison. Alongside some new faces to the television screen such as Ian Macdonald of Kilmuir in Skye, and a captivating first-time performance by 6 year old Kirsteen Macmillan of Carloway in Lewis.
Also starring in 'Anna Bheag' is well-known actor, John Henshaw who has worked on a variety of programmes such as Born and Bred, The Cops and Nice Guy Eddie.
John Henshaw said: "It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience working with this slick and professional crew. It was great to work within a different British culture, me being the only non-Gaelic speaking member of the cast. It prompted us to read and learn more about the Hebrides and we hope to return again some day if only to get some more delicious Stornoway Black Pudding."
The drama, by Stornoway based company Mactv was directed by Calum Angus Mackay and produced by Ann Morrison.
With funding from Comataidh Craolaidh Gaidhlig, the 1-hour programme was filmed on location in Port of Ness on the Isle of Lewis, and over 50 local extras took part in the production.
