RUSHES POST ‘CLUTCHES’ THE FUTURE

RUSHES, one of Europe’s leading post production houses, have announced that they have been posted ‘Clutch’, Shea Seger’s futuristic new promo, directed by Mat Kirk.
In the promo Seger is involved in hand to hand combat with an opponent in what appears to be an almost David and Goliath style confrontation. The fight action itself is not unlike the style of an arcade game where the slight but highly skilful female fighter defeats the brawn and strength of an opponent through a range of acrobatic moves and guile.
The fight itself is choreographed using a variety of camera angles and camera speeds. During the struggle Seger is seen mouthing the lines of the song as if to taunt her opponent further, while she acrobatically gets the upper hand in the physical struggle by back flipping her way out of danger before punching and kicking her way to victory.
Paul Wratten, Rushes Fire Artist, said: “The nature of post work required on 'Clutch' made Fire the perfect tool for this particular promo. The edit itself contained a number of shots that required vari-speeding, these shots were essential to the choreography of the promo. Frame cutting was also employed to allow the footage to accelerate up to four times the normal speed in one continuous move, this helped to emphasize areas of the action and assist the flow of the film.
“Although much of the amazing stunts and flips were actually achieved in camera by utilising Shea's natural gymnastic ability and stunt doubles, some of the more extreme and dangerous stunts were composites of two separate shots.” (CD)
