Irish short documentary wins LA festival award

Venom Film’s IFTA Award winning short ‘Undressing my Mother’ has won the Best Short Documentary award at this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival.
The festival is an annual fixture that attracts many of Hollywood’s elite. This year saw George Clooney receive The Spirit of Independence award at the gala event. The award for Undressing my Mother adds another to the tally of awards the film has received at festivals worldwide.
The film recently received completion funding from the Irish Film Board for a 35mm print. It will now have the opportunity to tour many of the worlds leading festivals.
Another of Venom’s short films, ‘Useless Dog’, polled second place for the Audience Award at this year’s Sydney International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious in the southern hemisphere.
The film has also been afforded Irish Film Board funding and will be distributed by Buena Vista International this coming Autumn.
On the heels of Venom’s recent success the production company has expanded, seeing producer Dave Doran join the Venom team from Coco TV.
