Axel Springer and GIST deploy multimedia programme guide for Swisscom Broadcast
German publishing house Axel Springer and GIST, the Berlin and New York-based specialist for digital TV services, have launched the first electronic programme guide featuring an innovative interactive news portal.
Swisscom, the leading Swiss communication service operator, is now offering subscribers to its digital platform 'Premium digitalTV' comprehensive interactive programme information plus local news via the TV screen. Local news is provided by Swisscom’s regional cable operators, while EPG data is delivered directly from the editors of HÖRZU, the leading German programme magazine.
The GIST EPG concept includes a web interface, allowing Swisscom’s regional cable partners to supply and edit news content and pictures as well as their individual brand logo and banner advertising.
With this launch, Swisscom takes an important step beyond conventional EPG services towards more personalised interactive offerings.
