IPV announces full implementation of WMV 9 in ‘SpectreView’

Cambridge-based IPV Limited, the global leader and the largest independent supplier of video browsing technology to the professional video market, recently announced that ‘SpectreView’ video browser is now fully compliant with Windows Media Video 9.
As a result of the adoption of Microsoft's implementation of VC-1, the proposed SMPTE standard, IPV claims to have raised the price/performance benchmark for content creation, preparation and management of professional media over standard IT networks. Its popularity has prompted the sale of WMV9 (VC-1)-enabled systems currently being delivered to major networks in Europe, Asia and the United States.
SpectreView provides access to all of the features that have made it the professionals' choice for video browsing; enabling advanced features such as frame accuracy, up to 64x forward and reverse off-speed play, transparent synchronous metadata handling and active recording.
IPV’s CEO David Cole said, "We announced our intention to develop systems based on Windows Media Video 9 at IBC 2004. Since then we have been astounded by the take-up of the SpectreView technology within our partner base. The efficiencies embraced in Windows Media Video 9 give higher quality images at lower bit rates, saving on infrastructure costs by improving access and streamlining operations."
"Companies are looking for innovative solutions that help them cut time and cost in the creation and management of their video content," commented Kevin Unangst, director of Windows Digital Media at Microsoft Corp. "IPV's SpectreView solution with Windows Media Video 9 (VC-1) technology meets that demand while delivering outstanding quality and value."
IPV's latest SpectreView products and technology were demonstrated at NAB 2005.
