Rushes Soho Shorts Festival join forces with Vue cinemas

The Rushes Soho Shorts Festival has joining forces with Vue Cinemas for it’s seventh year, with Vue West End, Leicester Square hosting the delegate centre for the festival week.
In addition, the festival, held between Saturday 30th July and Friday 5th August 2005, will showcase all shortlisted films outside Central London for the first time, with screenings taking place at Vue cinemas in Shepherds Bush, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cambridge and Islington.
Screenings will also be held in cafes, bars and screening rooms all over Soho, with the festival culminating in a celebrity packed awards night at The CC Club in London’s West End.
Rushes Soho Shorts Festival’s unique reputation as a non-profit making event, focused entirely on showcasing the huge amount of talent in short films, is enhanced each year.
Mark de Quervain, Marketing Director of Vue Entertainment said: "We're delighted to be working with The Rushes Soho Shorts Festival. Vue Entertainment believes in supporting filmmaking talent by providing venues where they can demonstrate their skills to the industry and public at large, so the festival shares values that are close to our own. For our guests, this is about offering choice, diversity of programming and appealing events that place our cinemas at the heart of the communities in which they operate.
"Our backing of the festival fits perfectly with our aim to stand out from the pack by offering the best state-of-the-art cinema experience and it clearly demonstrates that no one does cinema like Vue. With our involvement, the festival can now grow to match the stature it already has within film industry circles, and reach a larger proportion of the public with the some of the most exciting talent in the UK.”
The call for entries deadline has been extended to Friday 13th May 2005. For more information and to download an application form visit www.sohoshorts.com
Rushes have welcomed Alison Steadman, one of the UK’s best loved and most respected actresses, as the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival 2005 spokesperson.
The Rushes Soho Shorts Festival will be hosting a full days programme at The Broadcast Production Show at the Learning and Work Zone in Earls Court 2, of must-attend workshops and panel sessions aimed at anyone involved in the business of short filmmaking.
