PRODUCTION SHOW AIMS TO CATER FOR ALL

THE Production Show 2001 is among the few events that aim to cater for just about every aspect of the industry from top film effects to interactive television and from commercials to production services.
Themed on ‘Where Creativity Meets Technology’ this year’s Production Show more than ever is endeavouring to get something of interest for the whole of the production team from the executive producer to the installations technician.
By now the 150 plus exhibitors will have their stands set up and dusted off their pristine displays to showcase the essential wares for audio, video, digital video, broadband, streaming, transmission, facilities, post, locations, production services, and studios.
One of the highlights of the show is sure to be The Film Effects Festival's opening session Up Close and Personal. Offering an inside track on the lives of animation and VFX supervisors, there will be an in-depth interview with two of the industry's 'star' supervisors in the fields of animation, and optical and digital effects. Animation supervisor David Andrews from Industrial Light & Magic will be interviewed about animation techniques currently in development at ILM and some of the complex animation work he has headed up in the past such as on Dreamworks SKG's ‘Small Soldiers’ and Tim Burton's ‘Mars Attacks’!
Kent Houston from the Peerless Camera Company will talk about a lifetime (over three decades) in visual effects from the early days of optical effects on the Monty Python movies and Terry Gilliam's sci-fi fantasy ‘Brazil’ to the edge-of-the-seat digital effects in recent high-altitude action movie ‘Vertical Limit’. Kent is one of the industry's most respected VFX supervisors and has built up an enviable list of film credits including ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’, ‘The Man in the Iron Mask’, ‘Loch Ness’ and ‘Twelve Monkeys’.
The Production Show opens in Olympia, London on Tuesday, March 13 and runs from 10am to 5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, on Thursday, March 15, doors close at 4pm. (SP)
