Universal Music choose Quartz for new video archiving and duplication facility

The world's largest record company, Universal Music, has installed a Quartz Topaz router in the build of its new London-based Video Archiving and Duplication centre.
As part of the company's digitisation programme Universal Music Operations has employed a 32x32 Topaz SDI router to switch VTR signals to and from a video server, for its new digital distribution operation and video archive area.
The Topaz router range, designed and manufactured by Quartz, is a cost-effective; yet broadcast quality product family, available in 16x16 and 32x32. The range, launched last year, now also handles signals in analogue video, analogue audio and high definition formats.
Boxer Systems who designed and built the facility chose two Quartz CP-3201 remote control panels and a CP-3200A advanced programming XY control panel to operate the new system.
Richard Cranefield, of Boxer Systems made the purchasing recommendations based on the Topaz product specifications and Quartz's long-established reputation for quality and reliability.
He said: "We needed to offer Universal a reliable yet affordable solution and Quartz have always produced dependable routers. The range of panel options and ease of configuration really set the Quartz range apart from the competition. The system was simple to integrate and has worked faultlessly from day one."
Time and cost saving is paramount to the design of Topaz - units are normally shipped with a standard configuration, achieving immediate operation straight out of the box.
The Universal Music installation has been such a success that plans are already in place to expand the UK facility.
Quartz is the world leader in routing and master control with a successful product portfolio that includes a wide variety of router sizes and signal formats.
Quartz products are trusted by, and integrated into, many of the worlds' major broadcasters including BBC, Danmarks Radio, TVE, WDR, NHK, ESPN, CNN, Fox Broadcasting, Turner Entertainment Networks and NOB.
Quartz is totally focused on customer satisfaction through listening to users, developing and manufacturing technically superb products to the highest standard and providing the best technical support available to the industry.
