SOCIETY OF FILM DISTRIBUTORS APPOINT NEW EXECUTIVE

FRANK Pierce, President of the Society of Film Distributors (SFD), the trade association for film distributors in the UK, has announced the appointment of Mark Batey as Chief Executive of the SFD.
Batey succeeds David Hunt at the SFD who died on March 26 following a battle with cancer.
Paying tribute to David Hunt, President Frank Pierce said: “We are extremely sorry to have lost Dave Hunt, both as a wise colleague who contributed so much to the work of the SFD over the last ten fast-changing years, and as a friend. We look forward now to Mark joining the team at this exciting, challenging time for UK cinema.”
Since 1998, Batey has served as Head of Marketing and Press at the British Film Institute. Prior to that he worked for several years as a consultant to All Industry Marketing for Cinema (AIM), in which the SFD participates on AIM’s promotional programmes for cinema UK wide.
In addition to his role at the SFD, Batey is also to become Secretary of AIM. (AMcE)
