Axon chooses Leader LV5700A HD/SD analyser

Axon Digital Design has selected Leader's LV5700A multi-standard HD/SD waveform monitor as a reference tool in its product research laboratory.
The LV5700A will be used in the development of the Synapse range of modular broadcast equipment. Axon chose the LV5700A on the basis of its high-quality 1024 x 768 pixel XGA TFT display screen and precise digital electronics. These features enable measurements to be made accurately and repetitively, essential requirements in the design and testing of new broadcast production and postproduction equipment. The LV5700A was supplied by elQuip BV, Leader's European Master Distributor.
William Haak, Axon's Quality Assurance Manager/Project Coordinator, said: "The first ten years of this millennium will certainly be the decade of HDTV. Programme producers and broadcasters worldwide are now gearing up for high definition which means standard converters will need to handle SD and HD signal formats. Bigger display screens mean greater visibility of artefacts so the HD equipment must work really well. We have studied the test equipment market carefully and identified Leader's LV5700A as exactly the right instrument for our requirements."
elQuip Managing Director Paul Vos added: "Axon joins the increasing number of broadcasters, programme-makers, post-production facilities and high-grade equipment manufacturers relying on Leader test equipment. The LV5700A has proved particularly successful, offering multi-format video and audio waveform display, vectorscope, eye-pattern and picture monitoring in a single compact unit. It presents highly stable measurements in a clear and logical form and is equally suited to HD and SD signal handling."
Compatible with a wide range of HD-SDI video line, frame and field rates, the Leader LV5700A also handles PAL and NTSC SD-SDI.
The instrument has a broad feature set including transmission-error detection, gamut-error detection and data dump display. Video sampling rate is auto-sensed, switching between 74.25 and 74.25/1.001 MHz in HD mode or to 13.5 MHz SD.
Up to eight embedded audio channels can be extracted and analysed and four channels of decoded audio can be output.
