Cove adds HD option to Z-Link

Cove Broadcast has added +HD, an HD option for its Z-Link fibre optic camera link system.
Working with the standard definition Z-Link, +HD operates in parallel with the existing SD services to add a full bandwidth, uncompressed HD channel onto the single slim fibre optic cable. This SD/HD combination should benefit the growing number of productions that use both TV formats. Z-Link has removed quality, distance and capability barriers for virtually all professional cameras - camcorders as well as system cameras. +HD, available for both new and existing Z-Link systems, carries HD-SDI from cameras to OBs or studios with digital fidelity. Signals carried provide a complete 'studio camera' connection and include HD-SDI, SDI and composite video as well as audio, return video, talkback, tally, genlock and data, over 10km or more. Extended facilities, such as remote camera control, are possible and 200W of power can be delivered to the camera.
Flexibility for different situations and last-minute changes is essential. With independent permanent signal paths, downconverted SD camera outputs are available for simultaneous HD and SD productions, and the continued use of existing SD monitoring is possible for HD-only productions. Alternatively, the HD-SDI path can act as a second SDI path; so two digital SD camera feeds can travel over one Z-Link. The return feed to the camera can help cost-effective on-camera monitoring of studio output or other video sources.
