Todd-AO Creative Services acquires new 16mm/35mm film processor

Todd-AO Creative Services has acquired a new 16mm/35mm Photomec film processor for its colour negative processing facility in Camden, London.
With the addition of this new machine, Todd-AO Creative Services’ laboratory will have the capacity to process Super 8mm negative film and will be the only Super 8mm negative processing service currently available in the UK.
Sam Webb, Todd AO Creative Services’ Managing Director, said: “To be investing in film processing equipment at this time confirms our commitment to origination on film. We continue to hold the largest single market share of Super 16mm negative processing in the UK and installing another machine will not only see this grow, but also increases the range of services that Todd-AO can offer.”
“Many people do not realise how many productions are still shot on film,” said Dick Knapman, Film Technical Manager at Todd-AO Creative Services. “Currently, we are processing up to one million feet a month providing the rushes service on as many as fourteen drama productions a night. The new processing machine will not only provide increased capacity, but also diversity into the Super 8mm negative market.”
So far this year Todd-AO Creative Services have provided the laboratory and rushes service on over 40 productions, including the latest series of ‘Monarch of the Glen’ and ‘Silent Witness’, currently being aired on BBC One.
