Dayang introduces new professional server system

Dayang's new launched VIPS system (Video Ingest Playout Server) is designed to increase the efficiency of small-to-medium-size television stations.
VIPS combines computer server technology with traditional audio/video processing, enabling it to perform external-signal ingest, upload/download and play-to-air.
Occupying a compact 2U, the server can accommodate 36 hours of content on four 80 gigabyte drives with RAID5 data protection. Multiple data stream file formats are supported, including Motion-JPEG, MPEG2. MPEG4, DV, and WMV.
Karlton Burn, Dayang International CEO, said: "VIPS is one of the most exciting developments in broadcast storage since the move from tape-based to disk-based television broadcasting began. It combines high reliability with outstandingly affordable cost per channel. The server includes a real-time soft codec, providing a high level of future-proofing and eliminating the need for external transcoding. VIPS is easy to interface, easy to operate, easy to maintain, easy to upgrade and easy to expand."
VIPS supports MXF file interchange and the VDCP universal control protocol, enabling easy integration with broadcast automation systems. Server status can be monitored via SNMP-protocol TCI/IP and Microsoft Windows XP is incorporated to ensure a stable and user-familiar operating platform. An integral Dayang broadcast-quality I/O board accepts NTSC/PAL/PAL-M analogue or digital input plus external sync and provides two analogue or digital outputs (I-frame, long-GOP).
VIPS can handle 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 component signals as well as composite, Y/C, SMPTE-259M SDI and ASI. Two stereo digital/analogue audio inputs are provided, plus four digital/analogue stereo outputs, while audio processing is fully transparent to Dolby-E and Dolby AC-3 signals.
