SMG choose Rage Music for rebranding

Following Scottish Media Group's decision to opt out of the recent rebranding of ITV, they have been revamping their stations IN THEIR OWN STYLE.
Feeling that the new across-the-board ITV image did not tie in with Scottish and Grampian's look, SMG commissioned their own idents, and, amidst tough competition, chose Rage Music to compose and produce the music for them.
As well as using the new ITV1 idents, and replacing the ITV1 logo with the appropriate STV or Grampian TV flag, they also filmed many of their own, featuring Scottish presenters, in the same style. These were directed by in-house director Garry Harper.
Rage Music were then approached for the music.
Paul Leonard-Morgan, lead composer at Rage, said: "These idents were particularly challenging, in that because we were composing music that had to accompany all the ITV pictures as well as the new Scottish ones, the tempos had to fit exactly, in order to hit the cuts of the original edits. Once this was done, we then had to compose the music around these speeds. We also felt that the four different versions that ITV1 had were not sufficient for the wide selection of programming that STV/Grampian offers, so we ended up composing eight different versions, which should give them added longevity."
