SKY INTRODUCE PERSONAL PLANNER

DIGITAL satellite television viewers need never miss their favourite programmes thanks to the introduction of the new Sky digital Personal Planner.
The new innovation, which was a free download to all 5.4 million Sky digital set-top decoders, allows viewers to create their own personalised viewing schedules.
The state-of-the art feature can switch channels automatically when their favourite show is about to begin.
Viewers select the programmes they wish to watch from Sky Guide, Sky’s on-screen electronic programme guide, which has now been expanded to include seven days' worth of channel listings.
By doing this, they create their own personal list of viewing highlights for the week.
Then, a minute before each programme is about to start, a reminder banner will appear prompting them to tune to the selected programme by pressing a single key.
In addition, by using the red key on the remote control, viewers can select AutoView, which ensures the digibox automatically tunes to each pre-selected programme as it is about to start.
So, if you want a reminder of when ‘The X-Files’ is screening on Sky One and ‘Big Brother’ is next on Channel Four or don't want to miss the start of the cricket or a Premier League football match on Sky Sports, then just press ‘tv guide’ on your Sky digital remote control and select the programme.
Sky's Chief Operating Officer, Richard Freudenstein, said: "The Personal Planner puts even more control in the hands of viewers, ensuring that they need never miss their favourite shows. The digital age has meant an exponential increase in viewing choice and this new innovation makes it that much more simple to remember when those programmes you want to watch are on television." (CD)
