APTN Library partners with Chinese National Broadcaster

News footage from CCTV, the national broadcaster of China, is to be represented by the APTN Library.
It is the latest in a string of partnerships for APTN Library, with leading footage sources ranging from ABC News and ABC Australia to Vatican Television and the state broadcaster of North Korea, KRT.
APTN Library holds a large and growing amount of CCTV news footage, which has been accessed over a period of years because of the relationship between CCTV and APTN's video news operation. The representation deal will focus on this material, which is easily accessible and already available within APTN Library's database at www.aptnlibrary.com.
"The incredible growth of China in recent years has been reflected in growing worldwide interest in Chinese events and issues," said Christopher O'Hearn, APTN's Head of Content. "And of course with the next Olympics in Beijing, we expect this interest to continue expanding, covering both contemporary and historical subjects." The footage is mainly from news items, adding to APTN's extensive factual-based catalogue. It also includes extraordinary footage of stunts and unusual events, and images from around China.
Mr Ma Runsheng, General Manager of Programming Department of China International TV Corporation, affiliated to CCTV, highly commended this cooperation: "We are happy to be able to work with APTN. We regard this project with APTN as an important international collaboration. We expect APTN Library to be a tie that will link China and the rest of the world."
Under the agreement CITVC will retain control for sales to the Chinese mainland and Chinese-speaking territories.
