HaiVision unveils new hai500 software

HaiVision Systems has announced the immediate availability of enhanced IP functionality and software for its flagship hai500 series multi-stream encoder/decoder systems.
The latest haiOS v6 operating system provides increased IP functionality and control while haiVIEW delivers an easy to use session management tool set for all HaiVision users worldwide. The hai500 series is used in the most demanding video conferencing, security and surveillance, telemedicine, and distance education applications.
The new release of HaiVision's operating system software, haiOS v6, is now shipping with all hai500 series products, and is available to the entire hai500 and MAC500 installed base. This new software revision adds significant capabilities to the IP features available over Ethernet, including Session Announcement Protocol for multicast, QoS support through diffserv and VLAN tagging, incoming packet grooming controls, raw UDP encapsulation, and Access Control List support, empowering users to optimise their video sessions according to their specific needs. These features allow the hai500 series to consistently achieve extremely low latency performance and lip sync over flexible Ethernet IP connections (to 90 milliseconds), thus equalling the guaranteed performance previously only available with the hai500 series over ATM.
haiVIEW is a new software product release from HaiVision. The haiVIEW session management tool provides a simple point-and-click user interface to define and initiate point-to-point, meshed, or broadcast conferences. It uses customisable templates to easily initiate pre-defined user sessions. haiVIEW is an easy to use alternative to SNMP control or advanced conference and network management software offered by third party developers.
Ghislain Collette, Product Manager at HaiVision, said: "Both haiOS v6 and haiVIEW are fully compatible with previously installed hai500 and MAC500 systems. These products highlight the most significant development initiatives at HaiVision, emphasising HaiVision's commitment to assisting clients in their transition from ATM to IP while maintaining the highest quality levels, and providing simple, yet powerful tools to rapidly establish a multi-channel broadband conference."
