GEE BROADCAST GOES LIVE AND KICKING

BBC SCOTLAND have taken delivery of a new GeeVS video server from Gee Broadcast Systems for use on ‘Live and Kicking’.
Live and Kicking goes out live on Saturday mornings and required a store with instant recall for clips and in particular clips with an associated key signal. A single channel of GeeVS provides immediate playback of Picture and Key on Demand. The BBC are using an in-house control system with a simple to use touch screen interface which communicates with the GeeVS Server via Sony RS422 protocol.
The GeeVS Server provides analogue and SDI video i/o and can also control a VTR directly for capturing clips either singularly or from an edit log. The unit purchased by BBC Scotland includes 36Gb storage, which is expandable up to 180Gb internally.
Brendan Mallo, Technology Manager, BBC Scotland, said: “We purchased GeeVS to give us rapid selection and fast play-in capability to the show, the ability to play a separate key and fill is vital to the operation.”
GeeVS Servers provide Broadcast video and audio media capture, media management and processing, and full multichannel playout facilities.
Gee Broadcast have been supplying the Broadcast Video market for over 14 years with both products and integrated systems. In house engineering teams provide support, installation and training services.
