TOMB RAIDER STARS HERTFORDSHIRE LOCATION

‘TOMB RAIDER’ out on July 7 2001 will star the Hertfordshire location Hatfield House in the role of Lara Croft’s house.
Filmlink were originally approached two years ago in the summer of 1999 by Paramount Pictures, when they were carrying out some preliminary location work in the UK for the feature film ‘Tomb Raider’. The location in question was Lara Croft's Mansion and Hertfordshire, with its wonderful stately homes, had plenty to offer. The brief was for a large and impressive house in an Elizabethan or Jacobean style.
Chris Holt, Filmlink’s Production Liaison Manager, said: “In early 2000 the final decision was to be taken for Lara Croft's Mansion and, following recommendations from Filmlink, Hatfield House emerged as one of the favourites due to its impressive size, layout and architecture. We arranged numerous meetings and serious negotiations commenced between all parties. We were delighted when Paramount Pictures made a final decision to use Hatfield House!”
The location certainly has an impressive look in both the film, trailers and on Paramount's website at tombraiderthemovie.com.
Filmlink are the Film & Television Commission Office for Hertfordshire. Established in 1996, in 1997 the company became a member of the UK Film Commission Network. (CD)
