SCOTTISH SCREEN CHIEF RESIGNS

JOHN Archer, chief executive of Scottish Screen, has resigned.
Scottish Screen, currently subject to political scrutiny regarding their future, have been criticised for not funding a wide enough range of films, or enough commercially successful ones.
It is also been accused of giving priority to filmmakers already known to the board rather than developing new talent.
As chief executive Archer has taken the brunt of criticism, most recently when a project by his wife's company was given a lottery grant.
More relevant to the resignation however were his plans for a radical shake-up of the agency, plans which proved to be at odds with the board of Scottish Screen.
Mr Archer is to stay in his post until a successor is appointed. The process of finding a new chief executive has already begun.
