Videotek celebrates 30th anniversary at IBC 2004

Videotek, a division of Leitch Technology Corporation and a leader in innovative test and measurement technology, is to celebrate its 30th anniversary of service and commitment to the television industry at IBC 2004.
Videotek, founded in 1974 by Phil Steyaert and Rick Hollowbush, built its early reputation manufacturing broadcast monitors based on Sony's Trinitron CRT. In 1980, Videotek entered the test and measurement arena with waveform monitors and vectorscopes. These products were an immediate success, and subsequently, several other innovative products were added to the line.
Beginning in 1987, Videotek embraced the world-renowned Philip Crosby Quality Process and, as a company that continually strives towards zero defects, was the first US-based broadcast/communications equipment manufacturer to receive ISO-9001 certification.
Over the years, state-of-the-art engineering and award-winning technology have made Videotek one of the most successful manufacturers in the broadcast industry. Today, 30 years later, Videotek offers eight complete product lines. In addition to test and measurement, Videotek offers remote signal quality management systems, demodulators, routing and distribution, sync and timing, production switchers, and colour correction and processing solutions - with over 400 products in its portfolio.
Videotek's dedication to providing the best of class in innovative product design continues to receive worldwide recognition. At the 1999 Emmy Awards for Engineering held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Videotek with this prestigious award for its VTM-200 Multi-format On-screen Monitor. This Emmy is presented "for those achievements that exhibit a high level of engineering and are important to the progress of the industry".
Subsequently, the Society of Broadcast Engineers awarded its Technology Award to Videotek for the SpyderWeb Unattended Networked Monitoring System. Videotek was recognized for providing the industry with the best new or innovative technical item or idea to further the science of broadcast engineering, and to assist the broadcast engineer to be more productive in the craft.
Further, in 2001, Videotek captured two highly distinguished awards: The TV Technology Star Award for the STM-350 Streaming Test and Measurement and the Broadcast Engineering's Pick-Hit selection in recognition of the technical achievement in the development of the Signal Quality Manager (SQM).
In 2004, Videotek was awarded another Pick Hit Award for its innovative DL-850HD High-Definition Serial Digital Legalizer.
"We're pleased with the longevity and continued success of Videotek," said Phil Steyaert, President of Videotek. "Achieving this anniversary milestone is certainly a testimony to both the outstanding people and products that have been a part of our heritage. Born out of a dedication to our customers and shaped by ingenuity, Videotek has long retained a tradition for building quality, cost-effective products."
