PINEWOOD IS TELEVISION’S STRONGEST LINK

PINEWOOD STUDIOS television complex is doubling in size with the creation of a second fully digital television studio after clinching a deal to house the production of more than 200 episodes of BBC Entertainment hit ‘The Weakest Link’.
Just six months after it officially opened it’s doors to TV producers, the studio begins production of the top-rating series with Anne Robinson in its first 9,000 sq ft digital TV studio while work begins on the conversion of another former film stage into a second 9,000 sq ft fully digital studio.
Pinewood have recruited Pearson Television’s Head of Studios Peter Ernster to oversee the conversion programme which is due to be completed in August.
Pinewood invested a seven-figure sum last year to convert one its film stages into a fully digital TV studio with large production offices, green rooms and luxury dressing rooms as part of the dedicated complex.
Executive Director of Television, Steve Gunn, said: “In six months we have succeeded in attracting a wide variety of productions from sitcoms such as ‘Sam’s Game’ and ‘My Family’ to ‘Survivor’ and ‘Tomorrow’s World’ specials and have already notched up several million pounds of bookings for 2001.”
The BBC joins Princess Productions, DLT Entertainment UK, Planet 24 and Chrysalis as producers who have already housed productions on the site. (CD)
