NEW LENSES MAKE THEIR EUROPEAN DEBUT AT IBC

CANON continue to set the pace in meeting an increasing demand for lenses which satisfy the diverse needs of HDTV production by introducing a range new lenses.
The releases include the HJ11x4.7B, with the widest angle yet seen in a portable HDTV lens and the HJ21x7.5B, a portable HDTV lens which features minimal zooming effect of focus, high magnification and wide aperture width which is a perfect partner for all your Drama needs.
With these new HDTV lenses, the outstanding performance and enhanced specifications within the smallest dimensions and lightest weight possible is the direct result of pioneering Canon XS technology. This incorporates Canon¹s proprietary optical element -the X-Element - which has the capability of correcting a wide range of aberrations; and the innovative optical design technology of the Power Optical System which maximises the special properties of the X-Element.
The new portable HDTV lenses incorporate the Digital Drive servo system which Canon introduced last year and which is now fitted to all their ENG/EFP lenses. Designed to give fast, powerful and repeatable performance, Digital Drive allows maximum zoom and focus speed and such useful functions as multi-repeatable presets on framing and speed; and shuttling between any two zoom positions. Once selected, settings can be digitally recalled as needed during shooting to give consistently precise performance.
For many years the Canon J33a portable long range zoom lens has been the first choice of many who provide live broadcast coverage of horse racing and other sports events. Now, making use of Canon¹s innovative lens stabilization, IF-XS and digital drive technologies, the new HJ40X10B and HJ40x14B lenses are set to make an even bigger impact in the HDTV environment with their built in image stabiliser and record-breaking 40X zoom ratio for ENG/EFP lenses.
More records are broken within this class with the HJ40x10B realising a wide-end focal length of 10mm and the HJ40x14B telephoto version a focal length of 1,120mm with the 2X extender. Even with the built-in image stabilizer, the HJ40x10B and HJ40x14B weigh no more than 5.4kg and 5.45kg respectively.
The Image Stabilizer that is built into the new HJ40x10B and HJ40x14B features Canon state-of-the-art lens-shift optical technology. This makes use of an extra Image Stabilizer lens group that works in harness with sensors and actuators to counter the effects of image shake. The technology ensures consistently steady broadcast images, even in the ultra-telephoto range.
