'WHAT’S COOKING' TO SPICE UP BITE THE MANGO

BITE THE Mango, one of the UK’s biggest celebration of Black and Asian cinema, returns for a seventh year at the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television on September 21 to the 29 2001.
The most recent hit from British Asian Director Gurinder Chadha, ‘What’s Cooking’, will be among the films on show at this year’s festival.
Subject to work commitments Chadha and her co-writer Paul Mayeda Berges will appear on September 23 to take part in a question and answer session, supported by screenings of her cult hit ‘Bhaji on the Beach’ plus a selection of her short films.
Also showing will be ‘Gohatto’, the latest film from Japanese auteur Nagisa Oshima.
Other major themes include a rare screening of Satyajit Ray’s ‘Apu’ trilogy and an exploration of Soth African cinema.
