Ravensbourne students win IABM Student Bursaries for IBC 2004

The International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM) has announced that two Ravensbourne College students, Rebecca Parkinson and Steve Randall, are this year's UK recipients of the IABM Student Bursaries for IBC.
As well as full IBC 2004 conference registrations, the award provides sponsorship of travel and accommodation expenses. Earlier this month, the IABM announced the overseas winners of the Bursary, Alexandra Fedina and Karina Nikichina, both students from St Petersburg State University, Russia.
Ravensbourne College invited all of the students studying for the Foundation Degree in Broadcast Media Technology to apply for the Bursary, stating how they would benefit from the opportunity of attending IBC and how they would share their learning with other students on the programme on their return. The students' well-researched response to this and their determination to communicate their experience were key factors in making the selection.
This is the third year that students from Ravensbourne have been awarded the IBC Bursary. Julian Shutt, one of last year's Ravensbourne College beneficiaries, commented: "My time in Amsterdam proved an invaluable chance to learn of technological and methodological developments that promise to change the shape of our business. I felt genuinely privileged to participate in seminars with people determining the direction of our dynamic industry.
"IBC 2003 afforded me a fantastic opportunity to meet people and organisations that I would never have been otherwise able to do."
